Domain, domain adress, main domain or domain name are different names for the same. Examples of domain names: tecnoregistro.com, ysi.es, portal.ysi.net, nombredepersonafísica.pp.és, usr.ru, passagen.es, etc.

It can be defined as a letters designation for a group of Internet computers. Domains are made of some components. Dot always divides the subdomain from the main domain. For this reason, the domain name can't have dots in its content. Subdomains only need to be registered once the main domain has been registered. ysi.net is registered in net, an empreses.ysi.net is registerd in ysi.net.

We can try to figure out more examples for the above example, as for example barcelona.empreses.ysi.net, wich maybe will be the domain for the enterprises of ysi.net located in Barcelona.

There's a top level domain for all Internet that's called . (a single dot). It is the top level domain for the top level domains. The correct way to write the above example is, then, empreses.ysi.net. (with an ending dot).
